My Predictions of the remaining 8:

This season is rapidly turning into a major disappointment. So many shows started strong are now floundering around. The best show still going is Prison Break and it isn't quite what I would call an elite show.

2005-2006 Season: Whew
Sunday 10.16.2005
MattM || 07:53 AM
Well I made it. I made it through every single new show. Granted I missed a couple pilots but I saw the second episode on those that I missed. Although there was quite a few greens and light greens this year. I feel the quality of the shows this year is somewhat down from the last two very strong years. My three greens are Everybody Hates Chris which has been very good but has lost a lot of its momentum from a great start, Supernatural which also might be headed for a downgrade, and Prison Break the only show to remain consistent. There is no Veronica Mars or Lost or Desperate Housewives on this schedule. Prison Break is the only one that can compare to those. The light greens are many but seem to be stuck there. Overall this is a good season but it is not a great season for TV.
In the coming week I will start posting awards for the new shows.
2005-2006 Season: The Happy Days Award (Jumping Shark)
Thursday 08.18.2005
MattM || 07:29 AM
The two shows that would be the most easy to name here are Smallville and Alias. I, however, will abstain myself from naming them. The reason for that is that I believe Alias has jumped and Smallville is just putting on the waterskis. Others may think both have done the deed and others may thing its one or the other or neither one. Since it is entirely possible that both have jumped I will skip naming them because it is too easy. Right now I think there are a number of shows that feel an urge to buy a pair of waterskis. CSI with all its wierd changes last year. Without a Trace with the jarring ending. NCIS with the even more jarring ending. Gilmore Girls with its sudden surprises. Nip/Tuck with its very uneven second season but maybe finale saver in the end. Two and a Half Men could also with Chuck Lorre's past of ruining Dharma and Greg. So which of these do I predict will end jump the shark? Nip/Tuck is a close second. I just don't like the direction and weirdness this show got into and got away from what made it great. I think in someways it might have even jumped last season but the finale gave me hope that maybe they could right it. Still despite sterling acting from all involved the writing seems to be slipping and heading into a bad bad bad place. I am not even sure what could save it at this point. So if it is not Nip/Tuck then who? I think CSI will be the one to jump with the Willows problem. What do they do with her if Grissom gets his team back? What is she just going to be demoted and be happy? I don't see any way the two can co-exist without some serous shark jumping so I am thinking that either Grissom exits (which will be a shark jump itself) or more likely Willows leaves and....replaces Caruso in Miami!!! hahahahaha (hey a guy can dream can't he?). Still I have a bad feeling that they are not going to have the guts to have her leave the show and that somehow magically she will just accept her demotion or even worse yet but still likely with his increasing unhappiness William Peterson forces his way off the show. Remember it is Peterson who was the hardest to convince to do this show. He has also repeatedly expressed his displeasure with the other CSIs. So him making a run for the exit wouldn't surprise me. This show will not survive without him. After watching the poor carbon copies in Miami and New York I have come to believe that only thing that separates CSI from its poor carbon copies is him. Without him the show is dead. So with three possible choices and two of which are bad and the one that isn't is a tough pill to swallow and might still harm the show is there any way this show can save itself? I think not.
2005-2006 Season: The Lost Award (Best New Show)
Thursday 08.18.2005
MattM || 07:21 AM
I am going to with a prediction that seemly contradicts itself. I believe the show that will bust out this year is Invasion with it's perfect slot and excellent show runner I think the show will do well both ratings and just flat out being a great show. The contradications comes in the fact that I fully expect Lost to suffer a huge ratings and probable creative slump. Despite this and despite a much tougher time slot I think that Invasion will bust out and be a great show ratings and quality wise. I also think this show will be the breakout that Eddie Cibrian is long overdue for after being ignored and underused on Third Watch. Other good shows that I think will be right there are Night Stalker but the cast will probably be it's undoing. Two riskier but I think could be great shows are sit-coms (and they so often go wrong) are How I Met Your Mother and Out of Practice. I believe that Monday's block of sitcoms for CBS could be the new NBC Thursday (Remember Must See Sitcoms of Cheer, Night Court, Sienfield, Friends, etc. etc. etc.). Still of all the shows I just have a feeling that Invasion will be the best of the best this year.
2005-2006 Season: The Firefly Award (Worst Cancellation)
Tuesday 08.16.2005
MattM || 06:54 AM
No nominees this time just my straight out painful predication that Veronica Mars will be cancelled by February sweeps. Yes I know the effort UPN has put into it. I, however, have no faith in the viewers when it comes to this show. Quite simply we as viewers (even though I'm a faithful watcher we all need to take the blame) are idiots. Idiots for missing out on this show and leading to what I believe will be the demise of another smart show. The networks can't be blamed for this one when it happens. It will be soley and completly upon the shoulders of the viewers out there. Kristin Bell is a rising star and this show has the capablities and smarts of Buffy in it's prime. I look forward to seeing where this season goes and who was at her door. Still I can't help shake the feeling that we as viewers are idiots and will continue to ignore a great great show.
2005-2006 Season: The That 80's Show Award (Worst New Show)
Monday 08.15.2005
MattM || 12:00 PM
The nominee's for this category are:
Sitcoms
Kitchen Confidental
Freddie
Hot Properties
I have watched the previews for Freddie and Hot Properties and they made me absolutely cringe. That being said I am going to go out on a limb and completly saw it off here and predict that the biggest bomb will come from Kitchen Confidental. Granted I think the show could be good but every instinct in my body says it is going to bomb badly. I am not convinced any of the actors in this show can carry a sitcom least of all Bradely Cooper. I also happen to think Darren Starr is highly overrated. No matter how much I want Cooper and Brendon to succeed I just can't shake the feeling that this show will stink royally.
Dramas
Commander In Chief
Sex, Love, and Secrets
Ghost Whisperer
Another tight race here. Sex, Love and Secrets will sucky royally and Charlie will earn gloating rights to be sure but really what could we expect from her and this show to do anything but suck? Ghost Whisperer the biggest joke of a show of all lead by the untalented Jennifer Love Hewitt will of course bomb and make people madder (especially me) about the unfair cancellation of Joan of Arcadia. Still when it comes to drama bombs I just can't look at Commander in Chief and not just shake my head and wonder exactly who was smoking what in the ABC office? You take a great concept (unlike the other two which just ripped off from other shows) and instead of going for glory you aim low. You make it the evil chauvinist men versus her. Then instead of running with that you make her look weak by not sure if she really wants this job. EXCUSE ME????? If you rose as high as Vice President YOU WANT TO BE PRESIDENT THERE'S NO DOUBT. Why not just have a woman who won the election in a tight contested race and has to face a opposition party majority and her own party doubting her ability to lead? That would be a bit more realistic then this idiotic concept they have dreamed up. Then to cap it all off they have to go out and look for a female Martin Sheen. Someone who can take the role make it their own. There answer to this was Geena Davis????????? Did anyone see Cutthroat Island or the Geena Davis Show???? This is an actress who does her best work in supporting roles or with an ensemble cast. Not someone who can carry a show. This show will bomb and will probably be the worst show of the year. It is bad enough to do an unjust cancellation but worse to take a great concept and ruin it (see Boomtown).
2005-2006 Season: Addendum to the Overview
Saturday 08.13.2005
MattM || 11:50 PM
I neglected to say one thing in my overview. In the past I have judged new shows with only a preview and never actually watched a show. This year I will be doing things differently. I will for the first time be watching every single new show on the six free networks. I have of late made more of an effort to watch new shows that have come on other networks but they are a bit harder to keep track of. So far the only one that I am aware of missing is Beautiful People which I boycotted for the same objections that TVGal on Zap2it.com had. For a channel that calls itself ABCFamily that show has no business being on it's airwaves period end of story. Wildfire was boarderline but that show looks so far past anything that it deserves to be fully boycotted. A family network should not be using sex to sell shows period end of story. So other then that show I will endevour even with the difficult Wednesday schedule to watch all new shows this year. Who knows I may find a show worth watching I normally wouldn't have given a chance too.
2005-2006 Season: Overview
Saturday 08.13.2005
MattM || 07:58 AM
I will say one thing about the Saturday schedule for network TV...there are no bad shows on it! Of course there isn't any shows at all. Saturday is the one day a week where the TV tells us to get off our asses and get out there and have a life. So with that I use Saturday to do my overview of the fall schedule. Who needs a life anyhow?
When the schedule was first released my intial reaction was to have to have flashbacks to the wretched season of 2002-2003. A season that gave us such great shows as CSI:Miami, Dinotopia, MDs, and Good Morning Miami. A season in which the few good shows (Firefly, John Doe, and Haunted) were cancelled. It was a dark season for TV. I thought this season might even compete with it thats how barren it looked. Upon further review of the scheduling, seeing how the casting shifts and the previews looked (UPN, FOX, and WB need to start adding previews to their site) I have to revise that this season won't be as bad as 02-03 but won't be as good as the last two either. I predicate a surprising light green for it although I have feeling it could fall to yellow.
So starting Monday I will be handing out a new schedule predications through Friday to keep us all entertained. Well ok maybe just me entertained. After that, it is a long seven days to wait for the return of Dominic Purcell in his new show Prison Break. Ahh I love this time of year. The new shows to watch. The unjust cancellations to scream about. The bizairre network exec decision to be mystified by. The exciting return of favorite shows. It is indeed the best time to be watching TV.
2005-2006 Season, Ghost Whisperer, Hot Properties, Inconceivable, Killer Instinct, Numb3rs, Threshold, Twins: Friday
Friday 08.12.2005
MattM || 03:04 PM
Friday is clearly the getaway day before TV's off day of Saturday. The only returning show worth watching is Numb3rs. It was a bit uneven but showed some potential. It was nice to have an unconvential procedural drama. The firing of the talented but miscast Sabrina Lloyd was probably a positive move but we shall we how that unfolds. Overall it is a good show and I hope to see it move to a light green this year with more time and less casting changes.
The new shows however are not as promising. We start with the two new sitcoms of the night. One shows great potential in Twins with sitcom veteran Sarah Gilbert finally returning to her roots. Admittedly the plot might be a bit thin but I am interested and hopeful that it will be at least a solid sitcom. I only wish the same could be said for Hot Properties. With wretched ethinc stereo typing and a girl from Mad TV that really can't act this show has all the potential to compete for worst new show crown.
The drama's are a mixed bag. I start it with the rant of why on earth did CBS cancel Joan of Arcadia, one of the best shows on TV, for show that is so clearly a rip off of Medium with a little Tru Calling thrown in and led by an actress that can't carry a paper bag much less a show. Ghost Whisperer is clearly the worst show of this bunch with an unorginal concept, terrible lead, and cliche lost solider pilot. Red does not even begin to describe just how bad this show will be. Even Party of Five fans who I have spoken too concede she wasn't any good on that show so why do they keep giving her shows?? She clearly does not have anything more then minor bit role acting ability and that is being nice. She needs to go back to her singing career....oh wait she can't do that either. Moving on before I get ill at the thought of a tremendous cross-generational show like Joan being traded in for a cheap knock off of Medium. Inconcievable looks just bland to me. I can't see this show being much more then average at best. I doubt it will be bad but good to great not that either. Just average boring plain average. Killer Instinct despite all my best efforts I just can't get a feel for. The concept sounds ordinary and the actors are ok but not great but I have the distinct feeling it will be Foxized and probably wind up on the 21 Jump Street side of reality. Still I just can't get the feel if its good or bad but I lean toward bad because even if it is the greatest show ever FOX will cancel it quickly. The last new show is the one that actually looks promising. Another of the reborn sci-fi/horror genre shows (thank you Lost) with a very solid cast (although it is hard to hear Brent Spiner and not wonder when Captain Picard will show up) with an alien invasion via bio-forming. I know it sounds a little laughable but the preview looks interesting and I have hope that this might be the surprise show of the year.
2005-2006 Season, Alias, CSI, Everybody Hates Chris, Love, Inc., Reunion, Smallville, The Night Stalker, Without a Trace: Thursday
Thursday 08.11.2005
MattM || 07:18 AM
Thursday was once a strong hold for great shows. It was the must see night on TV. Now its the well lets see do we really want to subject ourselves to these shows night. The returning shows are Alias, Smallville, CSI, and Without a Trace. Alias has been swimming steadily with sharks after jumping the shark sometime around her dad not dying of radiation poison. The show, neglected by Abrams, is in desperate need of an overhaul but I know we won't get it. The biggest problem is the total lack of chemstry between Vaughn and Sydney. Since they broke up their chemstry has been more and more forced. Now he has to pretend she's having his baby. What would be great is Vaughn as the villian now that could save the show. They need desperatly to get rid of Sloan and Nadia too while they are it. Maybe have Vaughn kill her father now that would make for a great 6th season but I know this is a pipe dream and they don't have the guts to do it. Smallville is another show in serious decline. It makes me so mad at how they have screwed this show in the ground. I love Superman (although at heart I am a Batman fan) and they for the first time try to retell the Superman legend. They had a chance and they blew it. Much to often they ignore Lex but when they focus on him it usually winds up good. They turned Lana into this whiney person who most times I d like to strangle and they seem to have no idea what to do with Chloe. Although I haven't fully declared the series as jumped the shark but its definatly on the diving board and getting ready for the big jump and I fully expect it will this season. CSI will hopefully improve after that awful experiment of splitting the team up with out actually splitting the team up but what do they do about Katherine? Hello your promoted. HAHAHAHA just kidding! I don't know where they go from here but it might be intersting or in all likelyhood it will be stupid. This show has always been a tad overrated but now I don't know what they are going to do I just hope they get it righted because I do like this show. Without a Trace left us with the cliff hanger of who dies who lives. I vote Danny off the island because they just totally screwed up his character and the way they were handling it. I seriously doubt Martin is going. Vivian should definatly go away too. Still I just know how this is going to play out. They both somehow survive. Vivan comes back and the team reunites. Sam now at Martin's deathbed realizes she loves him and he has a miracle recovery. Tears fall, kleenex is needed, blah blah a wretched season follows.
Last year the effect of Lost reviving the near dead genre of sci-fi/horror shows has been stunning. This year could be the revival of sit-coms. Two strong shows on CBS as mentioned earlier and the another on UPN of all places. Chris Rock is one of the A-list comedians and a show narrated by him about his childhood I think has real promise to develop into a great sit-com. If CBS had any guts at all they would not have let this go to UPN. Although I think it is highly ironic it winds up here. After all it was Rock who called UPN the Under Paid Negros network. Of course the other new sitcom could set back sitcoms to extinction. Love Inc. aka the show that preemptively ran off Shannon Doughtery. So now they ran off a big name and they replace her with....Busy Phillips???? Ignoring that this is a huge rip off from Miss Match but to stick a no name in a lame plot sitcom? There is just no way on earth this could be good.
The new dramas start off with my other highly anticapted series in Night Stalker. I really like the concept and I have a feeling it is going to be good. Still I have my doubts about the actors in this series and their ability to handle it. Reunion is the other new series a show with the most orginal concept of telling the story of 20 different people at a reunion and how they got where they are in each episode. I just can't see how this works but maybe just maybe. Also what do they do about season 2? Another reunion? Surely they won't have the guts to do a revolving cast. Now that would be interesting.
2005-2006 Season, Criminal Minds, E-Ring, Freddie, Head Case, Invasion, Lost, Related, Veronica Mars: Wednesday
Wednesday 08.10.2005
MattM || 12:51 PM
It is has been amazing how Desperate Housewives and Lost has shaped this fall's schedule. All networks are running scared from these two shows and when they aren't running they are trying to copy the success. Sci-Fi/Horror genre shows were all but extinct and dead when Lost broke out last year. Now there is a total of six shows on this years slate and only two of those are returning. I am a huge fan of Lost and it was the best show on TV last year. That being said I have a bad feeling that it is headed for a ratings slump and maybe a creative slump too. J.J. Abrams has his plate so full he has allowed Alias to slip into oblivion and I am worried with him working on MI-3 he might let this show slide too. Still you can't wait to find out just what is down that tunnel.
The only network not running scared is the one that should be. UPN took its best show in Veronica Mars and put it in a suicedial time slot against Lost. I understand the thinking was to pair with it's highest rated show (America's Top Eating Disorders er Models) but this is just not going to work and I am afraid they are going to cancel Veronica sometime before the Feburary sweeps. That depresses me deeply because this show is truely an elite show and has the buildings to really break out during it's second season. Still if it fails I can't blame UPN even with the poor slotting, the blame falls on you viewers who have not watched this top notch show. UPN went out of its way to promote even going as far as putting four of the episodes on CBS. CB FREAKING S. If we don't watch this show then we are all to blame. So everyone stop watching Bobby Brown and the other reality crap that is on and TUNE INTO THIS SHOW. Yes you missed last year but they wrapped that up and we are starting from relatively new. So please do not let UPN cancel this show WATCH IT.
The new shows are a real wide varying range of the good, the bad and the ugly. One of my two most anticapated new shows is Shawn "I'm David's Little Brother" Cassidy's Invasion. He gave us a great show in American Gothic and a vastly underrated one in Agency. This one looks to be very good and I can't wait to see how it unfolds even if the plot sounds a bit out there. Alien's landing in Florida...hmmm that would explain alot about that state. Also I am looking forward much to my surprise to E-Ring. It has a steller cast in Dennis Hopkins and Benjamin Bratt amoung others and it looks very promising. Still I have to wonder why wouldn't they want to pair this with West Wing? No wait I better say that because they will wind up doing a very special cross over episode. By the way where is Aaron Sorkin and can someone give him a show PLEASE. The bad starts off with Criminal Minds. It is nice to see Thomas Gibson get another show and one that he can play but I just get the feeling that it is going to be a boring procedural drama. Head Cases starting Chris "Can I go back in time and turn down Batman and Robin?" O'Donell might just might actually be good but I just have a hard time believing it even it is good you know FOX they will yank it after 2 episodes. Related I thought might be a good one then they fired the seemly perfectly cast Laura San Giacomo so I just don't know about this one but it could be good they do have a pug in it after all. Then of course there is the ugly. In most sit-com trailers you can usually find one joke that works. A 30 minute pilot and all you have to do is find 30 seconds of funny. A pretty easy task. I watched three 1 minute clips of Freddie and the only thing that I did was fall asleep. It wasn't funny. It wasn't orginal. It was so bland not even his spouse could save this clunker. Mr. Sarah Michelle Geller needs to go back to doing.....oh thats right he didn't have a career. Well I guess since he didn't have anything better to do but still yikes....he has no comedic talent or timing and zero chemistry with that cast...speaking of....BRIAN GREENE????? Geez Fred why not call up the mystery machine gang and shannon dohtery while your at it.
2005-2006 Season, Bones, Close to Home, Commander-in-Chief, Gilmore Girls, My Name is Earl, NCIS, Sex, Love & Secrets, Supernatural: Tuesday
Tuesday 08.09.2005
MattM || 08:00 AM
Tuesday is a big night for returning shows and also has a slew of new shows as well. Both returning shows capped last year with huge changes and stunning developments. NCIS ended the year with the murder of Agent Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexender). I never saw it coming because they seemed to be working hard to bring her character into focus only what we didn't know is that behind the scenese the actress Sasha Todd was whining about the hard work and then decided she wanted to quit. Now enter Lauren Holly (ala red hair picket fences style???) as Gibb's new boss and potential love interest. Also who replaces Agent Todd as well. It should be a very intersting season for a very solid show that although is sometimes CSI Light it can be a very nice alternative to the sometimes dreary CSI. The other returning show dropped huge bombshells on us as well. I am a recent convert to Gilmore Girls admittedly and having seen every episode save for the 3rd episode of 5th season I have to admit to being very stupid to have missed out on this show. This is quite simply the best character driven drama of any show on television hands down. With the huge changes in both girls lives it will be a very interesting season although I am a little unhappy with the way they have taken Rory's character I trust Amy Palladino ...after all she guided the show through the Jess fiasco.
As for the new shows ....well the words train wreck come to mind. It is a truely sad slate of new shows when the one of the better ones of the lot appears to be My Name is Earl the lone sitcom on the slate. OUCH! Jason Lee's show (he of Pilot Inspektor fame) looks truely awful but the preview wasn't nearly as bad as I thought so maybe...er ok maybe I watched too many other previews from this night first. The dramas look awful. Supernatural could surprise but I just don't have any faith in the actors asked to carry this show. Jenson Ackles wasn't that good on Smallville and Jared Padalecki never really shined to me as an actor who could co-star in a show. The whole concept seems rather shaky to me as well. Throw in a very non-serious and very fluffy director like McG and er this probably won't be very good. If you doubt me on this go watch Fastlane or Charlie's Angels. The last of three shows that I can say anything positive of is Bones. The biggest problem with this show is getting used to seeing David Boreanaz in the daylight. Not used to him wearing sunglasses and walking around during the day very disconcerting. The rest of the show just looks like another procedural drama with a different spin. Still maybe just maybe....well pigs can fly with the proper use of capult. Of course those three shows should win Emmy Awards compared to the rest of the dreg. Close to Home yet another procedural drama from Bruckhiemer this time having covered crime labs, missing people and cold cases now we will follow the story of a prosector whos realizes how close to home crimes really are....that sound you hear is of me snoring. Amazing the second worst looking show is Sex, Love, and Secrets. That is saying something because oh my god that preview was just awful. Denise Richards better go back to Charlie if thats all she has got. What the hell is this is supposed to be? 90210 with adults? I don't know stupid stupid stupid. The worst looking show has to be Commander in Chief. I think to myself they have a great concept. The first woman president. So they go out and get a great supporting cast. Then who will be the presient? A slew of worthy actresses who could do this part and do it well.....and they choose Geena Davis?????????? She is so unbelievable in this role and so miscast it is sad. I know she has hit hard times here but lordy people give her a comedic drama or something not a show like this. They top this off by having her not elected but having to take over and the evil men trying to make her resign. This should have been could have been a great show but seriously the show runners are idiots plain and simple. To think I was feeling hopeful about this seasons new shows....man I hope Wednesday better.
2005-2006 Season, How I Met Your Mother, Just Legal, Kitchen Confidential, Medium, Out of Practice, Prison Break, Surface, Two & a Half Men: Monday
Sunday 08.07.2005
MattM || 06:42 PM
Monday night has the potential to be a blockbuster night for sit-coms. I really like what CBS has done here. 2 1/2 Men is the number 1 sitcom on TV now and will now be surrounded by two potentially great sit-coms. Leading into 2 1/2 men will be How I met your Mother. Bob Sagat is perfectly cast as the voice over and Alyson Hannigan gets to be the goofy financee of his friend. The show creators are a bit untested but this show looks like it might be a real good show. The follow up to 2 1/2 men, Out of Practice, also looks strong with another very strong cast and creators coming over from Frasier. Still it does have Paula Marshall in it a known show killer but hey this is the network that broke Jon Cryer's rep of show killer so maybe they can save her too. The only real downside to all this is Kitchen Confidental. It has a solid cast and Darren Star is behind it but I just can't shake the feeling that this could be a real bomb.
The drama's are a mixed bag. The returning Medium has real potential to turn into a powerhouse show. The renamed Surface looks really good in the previews but I am not sure how they can carry it for a whole season on this much less two. Prison Break also looks like it might be good but I am just not sure how well they can carry a Prison break for 20 something episodes much less into season 2. Just Legal looks awful and should be renamed Doogie Howser goes to Law School.
2005-2006 Season, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, The War At Home: Sunday
Sunday 08.07.2005
MattM || 03:48 PM
This turned into a pretty dead night. The networks seemed to abandoned it to ABC. Most of the networks have put thier past their primes shows (West Wing and Charmed) and have vacated the night to the steam roller that is Desperate Housewives. Even Golden Globes had to vacate the night. So with that being said I think we have much to look forward to in the coming season for Housewives. Although it answered all quesitions about the mysteries of Wisteria Lane there is still much repcrussions and new mysteries that are left unanswered. The new family on the block and what they are hiding. What happens to Susan. The fall out at the Van De Kamps. I can't wait to see this season unfold. Grey's Anatomy was a little uneven but an otherwise very strong show as a follow up. It ended on a bombshell but not a real surprising one and will be intersting to see how it unfolds. That leaves the only other show I will be checking out this fall. The lone new show on the block. The War at Home. It has already gotten to a bad start due to it picking September 11th as its start date. That is truely tastless for it to start on that date. Of course having these "confessional moments" in already labels it a bad bad bad show. So my expections will be extremely low and I will be quite shocked if it even meets those.
2005-2006 Season: Preview
Saturday 06.25.2005

That's twenty-four new shows I've previewed over the last twenty-four days and only two that I gave a light green to and I think I was really stretching it on Reunion. Overall this is really looking bad for the fall season, the most dismal thing I can remember in years. There's just nothing I can really get excited about or look forward to this summer. Even in 2003-2004, it started off well and only went so bad because really good shows got cancelled.
So I guess I'll mainly be sticking to my tried and true favorites from this least season, Lost, Numb3rs, 24, House, Medium, The Shield. But if they kill off Danny or Martin in Without a Trace (or both), I may stop watching that.
The only glimmer of hope for CSI was Grissom's "I want my people back" at the very end of that awful season finale. At least they won't have to pretend that they're all on different shifts anymore even tho they all kept working at night on the same cases. And hopefully Sofia stays gone to that task force, if we never see her again, I'll be very happy. But they'll have to really improve the show again, it's stunk badly the last six months.
Alias, I dunno, and no idea yet what happens with Jennifer Garner due to give birth in the fall. This last season has been so-so, I'm just not really that interested in Nadia. Grey's Anatomy is somewhat uneven but it's interesting, I love Patrick Dempsey and Katherine Heigl is terrific but George bores me silly.
The best possibilities for good new shows is this summer, two on TNT and one on Fox. Although TNT's record for new series has been really bad, The Closer and Wanted have good casts and decent plotlines. I don't have any hope for The Inside since, not only is it on Fox, but it's also been postponed for an entire year, the plot has been totally redone and the lead actor dropped out (was dropped?) due to the changes. It does have Adam Baldwin but if it's good, Fox will cancel it, like they did with Keen Eddie two summers ago, an absolutely brilliant show with a great cast.
