Grey's Anatomy: Into You Like A Train, 10/30/05

This show has officially earned its green. The decision not to go with the easy way out and put Derek and Meredith together takes some guts. The show also pulled together what made ER so great in it's prime. A gut wrenching case in the middle of a gut wrenching drama. Throw in a little humor amid gruesome details and you have what is one of their best episodes to date. ER has long since it passed its prime and lost it's way but this show remembers what made it great and is using it brillently to make one of the best shows on TV.
2005-2006 Season, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, The War At Home: Sunday

This turned into a pretty dead night. The networks seemed to abandoned it to ABC. Most of the networks have put thier past their primes shows (West Wing and Charmed) and have vacated the night to the steam roller that is Desperate Housewives. Even Golden Globes had to vacate the night. So with that being said I think we have much to look forward to in the coming season for Housewives. Although it answered all quesitions about the mysteries of Wisteria Lane there is still much repcrussions and new mysteries that are left unanswered. The new family on the block and what they are hiding. What happens to Susan. The fall out at the Van De Kamps. I can't wait to see this season unfold. Grey's Anatomy was a little uneven but an otherwise very strong show as a follow up. It ended on a bombshell but not a real surprising one and will be intersting to see how it unfolds. That leaves the only other show I will be checking out this fall. The lone new show on the block. The War at Home. It has already gotten to a bad start due to it picking September 11th as its start date. That is truely tastless for it to start on that date. Of course having these "confessional moments" in already labels it a bad bad bad show. So my expections will be extremely low and I will be quite shocked if it even meets those.

I won't bother with my rant about the DVR not taping the pilot ep but that's why I'm starting with the 2nd ep and not the pilot.
The voice-over is obnoxious and this show is way too self-absorbed, the idea is good, like ER in the early days but more focus on the interns instead of the entire staff of one department. And it's got some good people in the cast, Katherine Heigl is great here, good to see her in a series again after Roswell and Patrick Dempsey is also good. But I really don't like the title character, she brings in all the self-absorption, makes it more self-obsession and that's annoying.
I'll give it a few more eps, see how it goes, if it can build itself into something better.
