This might be worth checking out, it's on CBS tomorrow night (Sunday April 27) at 9pm eastern/pacific, 8pm central. It's based on a book by John Grisham but it's not his usual legal drama novel. I have the book but haven't read it yet, now I'm torn whether to tape the movie and read the book first or watch the movie and then read the book!
I'll tape the movie either way tho, it looks like a decent cast, heck the movie might be better than the book.

They really took a page out of the Young Guns movie (and no I am not talking about the term regulators). Ok granted it wasn't that realistic and the historcial gaffes were abundent. Still it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. They did a lot of things differently and better then most Lone Ranger stories. Tonto was smart and an equal. Kemosabe actually meant something. Luke aka Lone Ranger used his brains instead of going all out guns blazing. There were times of over the topness and sillyness but I really think UPN should consider giving it a chance. There was a lot to like here.
Rating: Strong Yellow almost a Light Green. Not that its much of a yard stick since most movies and series are horrible when it comes to the Lone Ranger but this is probably the best one.

I've watched six hours so far and there's still four more to go today??? And ten hours next weekend. Gah. This thing goes way too fast as well, it's too busy skipping around from one place to another, jumping years at a time, I don't ever really get to know or care about any of these people. It really should have been a weekly series, spread out over a couple years. Even if they filmed it all at once, it's just too much to show all at once, over two days or two weeks.
Lots of stereotypes, Evil Military Guy, Alien Testing Victim, Alien Loving Housewife, Half-Alien Child, Uncaring Politicians, Grey Big-Eyed Aliens, Hippy Son, Military Son defending Military Father from Hippy Son, blah, blah, blah. None of it makes anything about alien abductions seem real or possible to me.
This is what I was afraid of, that it would be dull and boring and flat with mediocre or bad performances from the actors. Eric Close's performance is the best of the lot which isn't saying much because he and all the rest of them have so little to work with. Lots of stomping around, lots of bright lights when the aliens appear, lots of Dramatic!Moments of kids being stolen from parents, people being shot by the Evil Military Types, lots of bleeding from all body cavities but nothing to make me care about any of them.

An interesting Sherlock Holmes movie set early on as Holmes is just starting out, very young and smart but not necessarily savvy. The actor playing Holmes is cute and good in the role, the one playing Watson is fair and as much as I like Vincent D'Onofrio in Law & Order: CI and other movies, he seriously sucks in this movie. Partly I think it's bad writing for his character but the role just doesn't fit him. Despite the fact that his looks don't fit the Holmes character and he's too old to play Holmes at this young age, he would have made a great Holmes but as Moriarty, he fails badly.
Nice ending tho, with the trademark profile and hat and pipe!
